Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Understandably, you will have a lots of questions in relation to considering Therapeutic Life Story Work. I have covered a few of the most frequently asked questions below but encourage you to get in touch should your query not be addressed.
Assessment
Therapeutic Life Story Work is not a standardised practice, each programme of delivery is bespoke to accommodate the needs, motivation and issues of the individual. It is necessary to undertake an assessment of each case to gauge if the work would be beneficial.
Where do we meet?
Mostly, sessions are carried out in the home of the young person and Liz will travel to you. It is best to have a room where there is little distraction and sufficient space for movement around the wallpaper. Sometimes the work can be emotive so being somewhere familiar is helpful for the client.
Frequency and duration of appointments
Therapeutic Life Story Work is usually undertaken either weekly or fortnightly; this can be discussed in assessment and planning meetings.
Sessions are for one hour, although older individuals, and those for whom Liz has to travel some distance, may suit a slightly longer appointment.
Safeguarding
Liz holds an advanced Certificate. At the onset of the work safe practice is discussed and agreed. During the sessions an agreement is drawn up between the young person, parent/carer giver and Liz outlining boundaries and guidelines.
All legal guidelines in relation to safeguarding and safe practice will be adhered to.
Confidentiality
The safety and security of client data and information is prevalent and held with the utmost respect for confidentiality.
Confidentiality is discussed during assessment and again when agreeing boundaries and guidelines with the client.
How much does it cost?
Prices can be discussed on a case by case basis; please call for further information.
A professional fee for direct work is applicable in addition to a fee for research and expenses for travelling time and expenditure.
